||
WE ARE NOW TAKING BOOKINGS FOR THE 2012 BASS SEASON
SOUTH WALES IS A PREMIER BASS FISHERY
The Bristol Channel is warmed up by the Gulf Stream which brings in many species.
Sharks blues, Porbeagle, Bass, Tope, Plaice, Turbot, Pollock, Bream and Rays.
The summer months attract shoals of Bass, second to none around the British Isles.
Now that we have a new modern fast boat we are able to cover the Bristol Channel to locate these predators.
A lot of other warmer water fish are predicted to arrive around Welsh waters due to global warming.
BASS FISHING
Bass arrive in Carmarthen Bay towards the end of March, where Peeler Crab seem to be the best bait at this time.
Although Bass sometime seem elusive, one of the main factors to success is their feeding habits and best baits are,
Sandeels, Joey Mackerel, Mackerel Strips, Lugworm and King Rag Worm.
MOST OF THE SUMMER BASS FISHING IS PRACTISED BY DRIFT FISHING LIVE BAIT.
TOPE FISHING
May sees the early run of largeTope which we return alive.
Also around this time the Mackerel shoals arrive.
This is the time when you feel the summer fish have arrived and the species that Carmarthen Bay and the Gower Coast hold are as follows.
| Plaice | Thornback-Ray | Blue Sharks |
| Bass | Small-Eyed Ray | Porbeagle Sharks |
| Black Bream | Blonde Ray | Smooth Hounds |
| Codling | Cuckoo-Ray | Bull-Huss |
| Gurnard | Plus the inevitable Dogfish | Dabs |
OFFSHORE MARKS
| Pollock | Shark | Bass |
| Turbot | Blonde-Rays |
Although certain species can be targeted. if the anglers so wish.
Fishing party`s can possibly end up with a mixed bag in excess of 10-16 species.
COD FISHING
In the winter months around our coastline shoals of Codling arrive around September and October, with the larger Cod usually taken between November and February, fished around Swansea and off the Gower Coast.
To target these fish we anchor up and try to encourage the Cod to feed,
by spreading the bait on the seabed around the boat and by up tiding and down tiding.
The most preferred bait is by far Black Lug and Blow Lug although Squid and Cuttlefish work, as they can be a useful secondary bait, to bulk up to attract the bigger fish. Whiting are in abundance and also the humble Dabs.
Please take your time to view the specification of our Charter Boat.
